Ubisoft says that it has prioritized the social element in the game client to allow players to find friends easily, to play with them. The people icon opens the social page which allows you to chat with your friends, manage friend requests, game invites, and see the players whom you have blocked. The next two buttons on the sidebar take you to the Store and Ubisoft+ pages. It feels like a web-wrapper that is chugging as it load the pages by refreshing them every time you click on the tabs. The Home and Store pages on the other hand seem to take a few seconds to render the page, which puts a damper on the experience. The library displays your in-game progress, and also indicates when games need updates. One important change to the library is that it is not restricted to games that you own, it now includes games that are available with your Ubisoft+ subscription, so you can find them all in one place. The design of the thumbnails on the page have also been changed, it no longer uses the vertical style, and instead has horizontal tiles. The My Games section has been renamed, it is now called Library, it seems to load slightly faster than before, though the scrolling experience remains jittery. The first icon takes you to the Home page of Ubisoft Connect that displays various games that the company wants to highlight, aka featured content. The labels have been removed, and the buttons don't display a tool-tip when you mouse over them. To the left, you have a side panel with various icons. it stays the same on all pages in the app. It looks neat and tidy, with just has 2 options now, one to choose the version of the launcher that you want to use, and a button to Subscribe to Ubisoft+. The header in the Ubisoft Connect's interface been trimmed, it is no longer cluttered with buttons and a menu bar. The Ubisoft Connect PC Beta is now live and is rolling out to users of the desktop app gradually. We are eager to hear what our players think." "The goal is also to get the most feedback possible from our players, so we'll have a feedback system built directly into the app. Huteau stresses that player feedback through the Beta remains crucial. "Wherever you play Ubisoft games, you'll have full access to all your services, your friends, and your library." "With this kind of ecosystem, we are future-proofing no matter what kind of new platforms will appear. "It's a great investment for the future," adds Huteau. Under the hood, there will only be one tech stack used to build UI components, which translates to a quicker, more seamless experience for the player as they jump into their games. New social features will also be introduced, including new player profiles, now available from within the app, that will be a space for a customizable identity, a means for players to interact with each other, and a way to see what others are playing.įinally, and most fundamentally, Ubisoft Connect PC is getting an entire technological overhaul to keep up with increasingly complex updates to Ubisoft's games and services. This slicker, more navigable library will see game pages filled with more information, both on the game - you'll now be able to see which games need updates, for example - and the player's in-game progress. We know from user feedback that revamping the library is the most important piece of the puzzle." "The new app is focused on accessibility, ease of access, and making sure that it's clear to the user how to find what they are looking for. "We took the time to really digest all the feedback that we received in the last years about the desktop app," says Huteau. Charles Huteau, Creative Director for the project, emphasizes that player feedback over the past several years has dictated much of the evolution we’re about to see, and wants that communication to continue during the Beta. The Ubisoft Connect PC Beta is about to begin, and it’s going to bring with it some major changes to its library, social features, video playback options, and more.
